Edmonton is the capital city of Alberta, and is well known for
scenic river valley, northern lights and numerous arts and music
festivals. The population of Edmonton is over 800,000 and its metropolitan
population as of 2003 is close to one million. The City of Edmonton
is also home to the world's largest shopping and entertainment centre,
including the West Edmonton Mall. The West Edmonton Mall covers
5.3 million square feet on two levels.
The City of Edmonton is located about three hours from the Rocky
Mountains and Jasper National Park. City of Edmonton is a century old commenced last October 8, 2004. A major event was organized to celebrate the centennary of Edmonton
held around Sir Winston Churchill Square.
